Confidentiality is Ethical
It’s 10 o’clock. Do you know where your resume is? Ok, so that’s not exactly how the old saying goes. But still, do you know? Then answer this question. If any recruiter working out of his kitchen can find your resume on the internet before his coffee gets cold, why can’t your employer?
During the dot.com days, with all the crazy hiring, fat signing bonuses and stock options out the wazoo, companies employed people who did nothing but scour the internet, looking for their own company employees who were thinking about leaving good old Whatever.com. Back then is was all about employee retention. Today, not so much.
So if you are still not concerned about confidentiality, maybe you should be. We certainly think so. Think about this. Today, with some of the “Big Box” volume recruiters, did you know it is standard practice to pull resumes off the internet and blast them all over creation? WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION!!! There is even an official sounding term for it. It’s called “resume prospecting”. That sounds like a quaint and harmless little sales practice. Well, it’s neither. It’s deceitful, it’s insidious, we don’t like it and you shouldn’t tolerate it. Receiving an “unsolicited resume” from a recruiter can ruin your chances with most companies.
At Elite Network we don’t present your resume to anybody, period, unless you approve it first. That’s our standard practice. It’s in our procedures manual. It’s in our recruiter training. It’s ethical and it’s our promise to you.
